Rick Jacobs Senior Testifying Expert /

Dr. Rick Jacobs has been a professor of industrial/organizational psychology at Penn State University since 1979. Dr. Jacobs holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA, a master’s degree from San Diego State University, and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He is the author of over 50 research articles and book chapters and a fellow in the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Society. He has received several national awards for his work including the Ghiselli award for research excellence from the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (1982), the Yoder-Heneman award for research from the Society for Human Resource Management (1992), the William Owens award for research from the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (2000), and the Robert McDonald advancement of organizational research methodology award from the Academy of Management (2010). He has been awarded major research grants from the United States Department of Labor and Transportation, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and PNC Bank. Dr. Jacobs has testified in state and federal court on matters relating to test validity, alternative testing practices and adverse impact. He assists clients with creating and implementing selection and promotion systems that are consistent with the law and professional practice.

He is also the CEO of EB Jacobs, a consulting firm specializing in selection and assessment. As head of EB Jacobs, he sets strategic vision for the company, consults with private and public sector organizations on the design of selection and appraisal systems, and works with them on matters of fair employment. He has extensive experience in individual assessment and has developed numerous executive assessment programs.

Prior to forming EB Jacobs, he was Vice President of Consulting, North America, for SHL, a worldwide consulting organization operating in 40 countries. He was part of an international research initiative at SHL and worked with clients on developing assessment programs that could succeed across geographic and cultural boundaries.

Dr. Jacobs is a Senior Fellow at the Justice and Safety Institute, a member of the Schreyer Honors College Distinguished Faculty, and on the Board of Advisors for the Presidential Leadership Academy. He developed and leads the PNC Bank Leadership Assessment Center where each year 48 students from the Schreyer Honors College, Presidential Leadership Academy, and Bunton-Waller Scholars are assessed through a full-day business simulation.

In addition to his professional work, Dr. Jacobs serves on the boards of directors of Penn State Hillel and the Kevin Dare Foundation.

Jacob Seybert Research Assistant

Jacob received his B.S. in psychology at Colorado State University, obtained Master's I-O training at Middle Tennessee State University, and is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of South Florida. He performs research in the areas of psychometrics, personality assessment, item analysis and test development. He specializes in the use of item response theory to identify and reduce test and item bias. Jacob has experience in a variety of applied settings and extensive experience in literature searches, data management and statistical analysis.

Jesus Salcedo Statistician

Jesus Salcedo is a Senior Education Consultant for SPSS, an IBM Company. He earned a Ph.D. in Psychometrics from Fordham University in 2006. He has been a lecturer at several universities and has also served as a Project Supervisor of Epidemiological Research at Montefiore Medical Center. He has over 15 years of consulting experience in both private and public sector organizations. His areas of expertise focus primarily on test development and validation, as well as analyzing many different types of data using both traditional statistical procedures in addition to data mining techniques.

Angie Rosenbaum Managing Director

Angie Rosenbaum received her Ph.D. in I-O psychology from Texas A&M University. She has over 20 years of internal and external consulting experience in both private and public sector organizations. Her areas of expertise focus primarily on the development and validation of selection systems, human resources practices, and compliance with federal guidelines. She recently co-authored a chapter in Employment Discrimination Litigation on the establishment of cutoff scores.

Erik Olson Senior Consultant

Erik Olson received his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational psychology from Texas A & M University and his J.D. from the University of Denver. Erik has over ten years experience researching workplace issues for municipalities at the Institute of Behavioral Research at Texas Christian University and as an in-house consultant for a large telecommunications company where his primary activities involved developing, validating, and implementing selection and performance management systems for both management and union employees. Erik's areas of expertise include job analysis, development and validation of selection instruments, performance measurement, and survey design and analysis. Erik also has over five years experience in criminal prosecution and defense.

Jeffrey Conte Senior Consultant

Dr. Jeffrey Conte received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Pennsylvania State University. He has taught and conducted research in personnel selection, test validation, psychological testing, time management, and stress in the workplace. His stress research has been funded the National Institute for Mental health. He regularly publishes in scientific journals and is the co-author (with Dr. Frank Landy) of a leading text in I-O psychology. He has consulted with many organizations representing a wide range of occupations on issues related to human resource management, selection and promotion, safety, performance appraisal, and stress.

W. Larry Kenney, Ph.D., FACSM Consulting Expert, Physiology

Larry Kenney received his Ph.D. in physiology from Penn State University and has taught and conducted research at the university since 1983. His research into basic physiology underlying human physiological responses to exertion and exposure to extreme environments (heat, dehydration, cold) has been funded continuously by NIH since 1985. From 2003-2004 he served as president of the American College of Sports Medicine. He is the coauthor of a best-selling textbook on exercise physiology (Physiology of Sport and Exercise, Human Kinetics) and has published over 200 scientific papers, book chapters, and articles.

Barbara Nett Consultant

Barbara Nett has an M.S. in I-O psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver. She has worked in a variety of consulting practices, particularly those specializing in litigation support. She has experience working on cases involving allegations of race, gender, age, and disability discrimination. She frequently conducts interviews with corporate executives and company personnel to gain case-relevant information for evaluating the organization's HR systems for compliance with federal and state EEO laws, professional standards, and industry best practice. She also has training and experience in the areas of selection and assessment, large scale data collection and coding, job analysis. performance evaluation, and test development and validation.
